Sponsored by Optimist Clubs from throughout the San Joaquin Valley (Porterville, Visalia, Hanford, Lemoore, Tulare, Corcoran, Bakersfield, and Fresno), under the aegis of Optimist International (a worldwide community service organization), Camp Country Jamboree is designed to offer children (5-14 years of age) who have cancer a camp experience as similar as possible to the typical summer camp experience enjoyed by well children. Set on a 770-acre cattle ranch in the Sierra Nevadas, just above Springville, the camp is an enjoyable, stimulating, and supportive experience and provides for the special emotional and physical needs of the children attending. Because it is recognized that siblings of children with cancer also have special needs, the camp is open to them, as well.
