I am so proud of those clubs that have added new members in the first quarter. As of December 6, 47 new optimists now call PSWD their home. That translates into optimists bringing out the best in 1,410 kids.

The San Pedro optimist club is just for members short of chartering. A last-minute push is scheduled for next week, so its new club leadership can be installed in by the OI president, Danny Rodgers, on December 29.

I have personally invited 31 new members to meet Danny so he can install them formally.

In order to celebrate those clubs that have reached their 20% in membership quota, I've designed a "20%" banner patch which will be presented at the quarterlies. The second quarterly will host the West Coast regional Vice President, Rocky Jackson. If you have not yet registered please do so soon(registration forms available here)!

Many clubs are busy with holiday food and toy drives. I am excited to see all that you do on behalf of kids. And believe me, it's really quite a lot. You should be proud.

Enjoy your holidays with friends and family, and continue being optimistic!

Wow! I am so impressed that Governor Jim's August Convention was so successful. He gave me the opportunity to discuss my vision for the 2010-2011 Optimist year with our Lt. Governors and new club Presidents.

Plan to attend the first quarterly Board Meeting at te renaissance Agoura Hills, Jan. 15, 16, and 17. I guarantee you will learn how you can use our website to recruit new Optimists, and to connect better with your own members. We need to pass our budget and our 2010-2011 policies and objectives. So all club presidents who are members of the District Board need to attend.

Registration Forms will be available on this website to download.

I chose connecting as a theme for our district. I want us to feel connected to each other though our fellowship, through our shared desire to help kids in our communities, and through our new website.

Thank you, Adam Wilner, for the excellent job you're doing in designing a user-friendly and informative and powerful tool (this website!). You're skill and creativity is outstanding.

This blog will be a place for me to communicate various happenings throughout the district, progress on new club-building, news of importance from Optimist International, and perhaps a joke or two!

If we all connect, I know your clubs will be even more successful than they are now. Let me know if I can be of benefit at any one of your meetings. My goal is to shake every optimist's hand in our great Pacific Southwest District by Sept. 30, 2011.
