Welcome! The Pacific Southwest District [PSWD] of Optimist International is one of three Southern California based administrative units of Optimist International and encompasses several counties in Central and Southern California. More than 70 indiviual Optimist Clubs are included in this service organization of men and women, boys, and girls, dedicated to assisting youth and their families in our communities.

Optimist clubs all over the world strive to "bring out the best in kids." We offer programs for youth that are tailored to the needs of local communities. The organization's motto, Friend of Youth is also its raison d'etre. There are a number of district-specific programs we put on each year, and for that we invite you to look at the Programs section of this site.

Communities to Host New Optimist Clubs The Mid-Wilshire area will soon have a new optimist Club servicing the community of the Wilshire Crest Eleme, thanks to the members of the Miracle Mile Optimist Club PSWD Governor Jim Morack had the first organizational meeting of 25 potential Optimists. He looks to charter the Wilshire Crest Optimist Club by the end of April, 2010.
San Pedro Is a Melting Pot Community Which Needs an Optimist Club Soon Governor Jim Morack will be meeting with San Pedro Community leaders to assess what needs they see to better prepare their kids. Hopefully the San Pedro Optimist Club will be a reality by the July, 2010 Optimist International Convention in Denver.
