Welcome!

The Pacific Southwest District [PSWD] of Optimist International is one of three Southern California based administrative units of Optimist International and encompasses several counties in Central and Southern California. More than 70 individual Optimist Clubs are included in this service organization of men and women, boys, and girls, dedicated to assisting youth and their families in our communities.

Optimist clubs all over the world strive to "bring out the best in kids." We offer programs for youth that are tailored to the needs of local communities. The organization's motto, Friend of Youth is also its raison d'etre. There are a number of district-specific programs we put on each year, and for that we invite you to look at the Programs section of this site.

Communication Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CCDHH) This fantastic program offered by the Pacific Southwest Optimist District offers an opportunity for children who are deaf or hard of hearing to present their thoughts in the community, gaining skills, which can only come from signing or speaking to a large audience.  Click here to see an inspiring video on it!
